About Mark

I became an entrepreneur by buying a business. Running it became the real education.

I’m Mark Su, owner and CEO of IT Assure. I write about the practical lessons of acquiring, operating, and improving a business.

From finance to ownership

My background began in finance and accounting. I later became interested in entrepreneurship through acquisition and acquired the business I now lead.

That background shapes how I approach the work: sound decisions, clear responsibilities, and processes that can be checked. Today, much of my attention goes toward stronger management, better systems, and building a company that becomes less dependent on its owner.

A business owner’s view of technology

At IT Assure, I approach cybersecurity through the responsibilities that come with running a business: protecting confidential information, preserving client trust, and making sure important work has a clear owner.

Technology matters. So do the decisions around it—who can access information, how responsibilities are assigned, and whether an identified issue is followed through to resolution.

My interest in practical AI follows the same operating perspective. I’m exploring where it can help get useful work done, and what direction and review the work still requires.

Why I write

Most of what I write comes from problems I’m working through. This site is where I document what works, what fails, and what changes my thinking about ownership, management, and technology.

I don’t write because I have all the answers. I write because making the lessons explicit may be useful to another owner, operator, or person considering buying a business.
